Typical PMS Symptoms
Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) (also called PMT or premenstrual tension) is defined as a set of physical, psychological, and emotional symptoms connected to a woman’s menstrual cycle, that appear a few days to a couple of weeks before a period.
While 80% women experience at least some symptoms, about 2 to 5 % of women have significant symptoms that may interfere with everyday life. Some of the most common symptoms are:
- Tension and irritability during this time can aggravate minor grievances and reactions may seem out of proportion
- Feelings of tiredness and fatigue make even ordinary every day chores seem difficult. Some women also have difficulty concentrating.
- Anger and depression are also common symptoms of PMS. A woman may have a shorter fuse during PMS and may also be more prone to feelings of unhappiness and feels on the edge of tears
- Food cravings and appetite changes may also be seen
- Women also experience very physical symptoms of PMS such as bloating and actual weight due to water retention etc.
- Breast tenderness is also experienced by many women
- Headaches are other physical effects of PMS

Inspired Interior
Soothing Master Suite:
Maybe it’s the fact I’m heading to the beach this spring. Maybe it’s their soothing effect. But for some reason I have a little crush on the colors light blue and turquoise lately.
I think it all began last fall when I purchased a big, gorgeous bluish-turquoise ring while visiting New Orleans. After that, I just began noticing the color more – especially within interior design.
This week’s inspired interior comes from the HGTV Green Home 2009. Imagine coming home to this master suite. I can feel the stress already melting away…

High Fat Diet May Up Risk Of Stroke Among Women
There are many reasons to have a healthy low fat diet and a fat behind may well be the least of it!
Now it would seem that there is yet another reason for women to eat fewer fats because a high fat diet is seen to increase the risk of suffering a stroke.
The old villain, trans fat, or hydrogenated fat that is ever present in items like cookies, cakes, stick margarine, fried foods, crackers and pastries.
It is these trans fats that clog the arteries and ups stroke risk according to the new study. These fats are bad for the waistline as well as for the heart. These harmful fats that clog up the arteries reduce blood supply to the brain and thereby cause the commonest variety of stroke.
Women who ate fat rich diets were 44% more likely to have experience a stoke when compared to others. The idea is, that what is bad for the heart is also bad for the brain. Traditionally premenopausal women had lower stroke risk than men of the same age, however with rising obesity, this trend is changing.
So here is one more reason to pay close attention to the labeling on the food that we buy and to stick to the healthier fats that come from nuts, seeds, fish and vegetable oils.

Etsy Fashion Find
Spring Clutches:
As we move into warmer months, it seems accessories become less fussy and more simple. (Not that I don’t enjoy a good intricate design. Trust me, I do!)
But for me, summer is about easy, casual fashion. So when I found the following handbags – I had to share.
This collection, from the kiuD shop on Etsy contains a number of brightly-colored clutches. Hand-crafted from cotton canvas on a metal frame, they even contain an inner, side pocket for tiny treasures.
Simple perfection! Click here for the full collection.
