A study of the Center for Behavioral Medicine in Chicago cocluded that if people write down everything they eat at least 75 percent of the time, they’ll be more likely to succeed at losing weight and keeting it off. This is a form of self-monitoring, Kirschenbaum says, and it works because it holds you accountable for what you eat.

A Twisted Statement Bracelet:

This Tuesday marks the release of Twisted Silver’s new Luck Bracelet.

(I consider myself especially lucky for having received an advance sample for review!)

Renegade Road Trip:

Luck Bracelet is part of the new RENEGADE TRIP line.  Designer Debra Mitchell’s inspiration for this collection was “the discovered treasures from the diverse culture of a good old fashioned cross-county road trip.”

All about LUCK:

True to Debra’s vision, Luck appears to be a one-of-a-kind artisan piece found at a tiny boutique along a winding stretch of two-lane highway.  The kind of place you stop, if only to stretch your legs, and it ends up being your favorite place on the trip.

Luck’s focal point is an equestrian element:  a thick metal rope, bent into the shape of a horseshoe.

Wearing Luck:

Because it is such a statement piece, I’ve been wearing this bracelet with simple earrings like Lithe Silver or small diamond studs.

Of course it looks amazing with denim and I’ve also really enjoyed wearing Luck with black clothing.  Black just seems to make it pop.  Three quarter sleeves or shorter are a requirement with this beauty – as it demands seri0us attention!  (Warning:  Be prepared for questions and requests from friends to try it on…)

Summer Lovin’:

As one generally who wears less jewelry during the hot months, I think Luck will be an ideal piece this summer.  It’s not at all fussy and it can easily stand on its own.

Custom Perfume:

In this day and age, you can customize and personalize just about everything.  And now you can even personalize your perfume with Aromachology.Aromachology was created by Ashlee Firstein and Kirsten Menkes with the intention of filling the void between fragrance and personal connections.  Found exclusively at Henri Bendel, Aromachology allows women to blend different notes and create an entirely unique fragrance.

“It is very personal and you can own it yourself…we wanted to make it unintimidating, fun and very interactive,” said Firstein.

Aromachology offers a “Scent Profiler” which calculates your fragrance personality.  This determines your base note.  There are five base notes:

• Sophisticated & Sensual Floral

• Totally Edible Gourmand

• Exotic & Spicy

• Clean & Fresh

• Bold & Brisk Woodsy

After you find your base note, you can blend it with three top notes.  This is where Aromachology goes beyond simply smelling nice.  It is a science that looks at how scent affects behavior.

Aromachology top notes are essential oil blends that have been scientifically proven to inspire different attributes. Examples include: confident, optimistic and sensual.  There are a total of fifteen top notes.

My scent story: As soon as I walked into Henri Bendel someone greeted me with champagne and the Aromachology Scent Profiler.  I took the brief quiz and found my fragrance personality – “sophisticated and sensual floral.”  Funny thing was that Ashlee Firstein, after just a few sentences exchanged, said “You’re floral.”  She really is good at her craft!

I personally believe that scent affects behavior so I chose my top notes more for the attributes I want to maintain and strengthen than the actual scent of the top notes.  They all smell divine so you can’t really go wrong.  My top notes are: creative, courageous and peaceful.

Beauty, both Inside and Out:

Teen Vogue and junior denim brand L.e.i. are on a nationwide search to find the next model citizen – “a girl who exemplifies beauty both inside and out.”

A recent casting call at the Teen Vogue Haute Spot Store in The Westchester Mall gave young hopefuls an opportunity to meet and greet the high profile judges: Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Amy Astley, designer Rachel Roy, models Chanel Iman and Ali Michaels, and CEO of Fashion Delivers, Allan Ellinger.

Thanks to video uploading stations, hopefuls could enter the contest on-the-spot.  Contestants submitted videos explaining “what being a model citizen means to them.”

The winner of this contest will receive a $100,000 college scholarship, an appearance in L.e.i.’s fall 2010 national ad campaign and a Teen Vogue internship.

More than just a Beauty Contest:

“The L.e.i. model citizen search is about the empowerment of young women and being a model citizen not just on the outside but on the inside.  It’s not just about their appearances, but it’s about their ideas about the world, about the environment, about giving back,” said Laura McEwen – Publisher of Teen Vogue.

Designer Rachel Roy said she is looking for “Confidence, happiness and the ability to articulate what is important to them and have an idea of how to achieve it…that beauty of spirit comes out through your face, it comes out through the energy of your body.”

Chanel Iman said her favorite part of the search was the accessibility it provided to young girls.  “I wish someone came to my mall when I was younger and gave me an opportunity like this,” said Iman.

Because Giving is always in Fashion:

Participants were also able to donate a new pair of jeans to Fashion Delivers in exchange for a year subscription to Teen Vogue.  Fashion Delivers, an organization that believes “giving is always in fashion,” has distributed $55 million in product to victims of natural disasters and individuals in need since 2005.

The model citizen contest is part of a larger effort of the fashion community to band together to support good causes.

“People in fashion realize their good fortune of working in an industry that they love and has been good to them,” said McEwen.  “And, in turn, the fashion community digs deep into their souls, wants to help and support causes all over the world.  So many of our own: Anna Wintour, Amy Astley, Diane von Furstenberg – leaders in fashion – are always thinking how they can give back.”

Rachel Roy believes that anyone with a voice has a responsibility to speak out.  “Anyone with a voice that the media listens to has a responsibility…One thing I’m trying to teach kids is that one voice does make a difference.  If you believe in that, your voice becomes even louder.  A confident voice makes such a difference.”
